Alfred Adler
Alfred Adler (1870 - 1937) was the founder of the school of individual psychology. Together with Sigmund Freud and a small group of Freud's colleagues, Adler was among the co-founders of the psychoanalytic movement. He was the first prominent figure that disconnected himself from psychoanalysis in order to found an autonomous school of psychotherapy and personality theory.
Adler's considered dreams as an open pathway to true thoughts, emotions and actions. According to his view, dreams enable us to clearly see our aggressive impulses and desires. Adler considered dreams as a way of compensating for the shortcomings in life. Dreams offer a kind of satisfaction that may be more socially acceptable.
